In 2007 Northland Painting of Duluth, Inc. was contracted by the Proctor Historical Society and the D.M. & I.R. Historical Society for the Preservation of the D.M. & I.R. Yellowstone #225 Steam Locomotive and the C-200 Caboose. This project posed many challenges. The scope of work involved designing and erecting a containment enclosure, sandblasting, lead paint abatement, and repainting in a residential area. Working closely with local government and D.M. & I.R. historians Northland Painting successfully restored the steam engine and caboose to its original specifications including hand painted graphics.  Visit it in downtown Proctor, MN.

Both owners of Northland Painting of Duluth, Inc., William J. Huberty (Bill) and Loren J. Witte (Jamie), are local guys that attended and graduated from a three year Painters Apprenticeship program. Both worked in the field for several years with local contractors. They started out in the mid 1980s in Bill's basement and Jamie's pickup truck. In 1989 they incorporated and formed Northland Painting of Duluth, Inc.

Today, some thirty-plus years later, Northland Painting's steady growth and leadership has established itself as one of the areas largest and most diverse Commercial and Industrial Painting Contractors.

In 2000, Bill and Jamie formed HW LLC, an investment company, and purchased and developed 12 acres of commercial property on highway 35 near Duluth. Now, home to Northland Painting the property houses an office building, warehouse and lot storage.

Northland Painting used its Drywall, Painting and Wall-Covering services to invest in PR Lodging, a commercial development company. Starting with the Country Inn & Suites, Duluth South and expanding to include holdings in the restaurant business, rural land development, Lake Superior charter fishing and commercial land sales.

Northland Painting's commitment to success is apparent in its growth and its involvement in some of the areas largest and most complex project's.

Northland Painting is proud to have had the opportunity to put the finishing touches on these projects and many more. We look forward to the opportunity to offer our services to you.

Sincerely, Bill and Jamie
